Accessible public transport
Information for transport operators and customers about transport standards for people with mobility aids and accessibility on public transport.
Disability parking scheme permit
We administer the disability parking permit scheme and issue permits to people with mobility impairment.
Person with a vision impairment (VIP) travel pass
The holder of a Person with Vision Impairment (VIP) Travel Pass is entitled to free travel on all participating urban public transport services including buses, trains and ferries within Australia.
Taxi subsidy scheme
The taxi subsidy scheme is an initiative that subsidises taxi travel for persons with severe disabilities.
Low cost transport services
A number of organisations provide free or low-cost transport services. Some criteria must be met before assistance is offered. If you have given up, or are about to give up driving, the following organisations can send you more information:
- The home and community care program assists older people to remain in their homes. Transport services for eligible clients are available in most parts of the state. For information visit Home and Community Care or contact the Commonwealth Care Link on 1800 052 222.
- Your Local Neighbourhood or Community Care Centre — contact your local government or council for information about localised transport services.
- Brisbane City Council* Council cabs — in most Brisbane suburbs Brisbane City Council provides a shared taxi service to shopping centres, banks and medical centres. - Suncoast Cabs* provides a Suncoast community cab service (PDF, 77 KB) which is a weekly door-to-door shared transport service, from A$4 each way, taking passengers to their nearest major shopping centre and back home again. For further information visit Suncoast Cabs* or contact +61 7 5451 7565.
