A property search enables prospective purchasers of property to verify whether or not the department has, or may have, a land requirement for a specific property. If an impact / land requirement is identified, it would be in relation to transport and road infrastructure.

What does a Transport and Main Roads property search cover?

The Department of Transport and Main Roads provides a single electronic property search that determines the land requirements against all transport projects, including railways, busways, cycleways, passenger transport corridors, light rail and state-controlled roads.

How long does a property search take?

The Department of Transport and Main Roads will endeavour to complete property searches within 10 days, with about 90% being completed within 2 days. If the property is in an active planning area, the property search will need to be forwarded on to the relevant project team for determination.
