Bruce Highway (Brisbane-Gympie), Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue upgrade funding commitment

The Bruce Highway (Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue) business case has developed a staged approach to manage increasing traffic demands on this section of the Bruce Highway.

Benefits

  • Increases capacity
  • Improves network efficiency
  • Increases traffic flow
  • Better road access
  • Contributes to economy
  • Contributes to regional growth

Key features

Stage 1: Extended north-facing ramps:

  • Providing extended north-facing ramps (northbound entry and southbound exit ramps) from Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue along the Bruce Highway.

Future stages:

  • Constructing collector-distributor roads on both sides of the Bruce Highway from Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue.
  • Upgrades to the Anzac Avenue interchange to the Bruce Highway.
  • A shared pedestrian and bicycle path on the east side of the Bruce Highway from Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue.

Detailed design and construction for future stages is not confirmed and is subject to further approvals and funding.

Moreton Connector:

As part of the Bruce Highway (Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue) business case, the department undertook initial planning for the Moreton Connector (a new road east of the Bruce Highway from Dohles Rocks Road to Anzac Avenue). This corridor was preserved by the department and Moreton Bay Regional Council for potential future use.

Planning has determined the Moreton Connector would be a beneficial potential future local connection, however, it would provide limited benefits for Bruce Highway traffic and not provide a viable alternative to highway upgrades. It will not progress to design and construction at this stage.
