Maroochydore-Noosa Road (Bradman Avenue), Diura Street and Denna Street, improve intersections

Construction is underway for safety improvements to the intersections of Bradman Avenue/Diura Street and Bradman Avenue/Denna Street, Maroochydore.

The department is delivering safety improvements on Maroochydore-Noosa Road (locally known as Bradman Avenue) at the intersections of Diura Street and Denna streets in Maroochydore.

Construction works include new traffic signals, modifying the left-turn slip lanes and installing new signalised pedestrian crossings at the Diura Street intersection.

Works will also include modifying the existing traffic signals and improving the existing pedestrian crossings at Denna Street as well as the addition of bike lanes between Kuran Street and Denna Street.

The Bradman Avenue work zone will be resurfaced and parking adjustments made.

These improvements aim to reduce the rate and severity of crashes at this location and improve conditions for all road users.

Benefits

  • Improves safety
  • Improves network efficiency
  • Increases traffic flow
  • Better active transport
  • Improves ride quality

Key features

These works will improve safety at the intersections by delivering:

  • new traffic signals at the Diura Street intersection with Bradman Avenue, including signalised pedestrian crossings
  • adjustments to existing traffic signals at the Denna Street intersection with Bradman Avenue, as well as improvements to the pedestrian crossing facilities at this intersection
  • modifications to the left-turn slip lane from Bradman Avenue to Diura Street to improve safety and improve visibility for vehicles turning left
  • resurfacing on Bradman Avenue between Kuran Street and Denna Street
  • parking changes to Bradman Avenue, between the Sunshine Motorway overpass and Yinni Street. The no-stopping zone will be lengthened by approximately 47m on the eastbound lane (river side) between 205 and 211 Bradman Avenue and 1 parking bay on the westbound lane will be removed. This is required to ensure the safety of all road users as works will require adjustments to current linemarking for safer left-turn lanes and merging
  • new bike lanes and linemarking on Bradman Avenue between Kuran Street and Denna Street to improve safety for bike riders.
