Easier access to cycling data, research online

Overview

Action 5.7: Investigate options to create an online cycle portal that will help to improve access to the latest research findings, technical guidance, cycling data and other resources to support transfer of knowledge on cycling related issues.

Lead agency: Department of Transport and Main Roads

Status: Complete

Achievements

We are working to improve the way we share research, technical guidance and other data.

We released research and resources online to provide access to the latest safety research, technical notes, infrastructure project evaluations and other resources.

We published 18 infrastructure project evaluations such as the Mann St Cycleway (Cairns), Moggill Road Cycle Bridge (Indooroopilly) and Moreton Bay Rail Link Shared Pathway.

We published 6 new bicycle riding encouragement resources:

  • More bicycle riding, more often in Queensland: Research summary report 2018
  • Bicycle riding typologies for Queensland: In-depth research report 2018
  • Bicycle riding encouragement guide: Making the most of riding infrastructure in your community
  • A bicycle fleet guide for your workplace
  • Rediscover riding: A starter guide for new bicycle riders

We continue to engage with internal and external stakeholders to help us understand how to improve access to the latest research and other bicycle riding related resources.

Next steps

We will continue to improve access to bicycle road rules, research findings, technical guidance, bicycle riding data and other resources.
