Status: Complete

Achievements

We developed a plan to increase public knowledge and awareness of road rules using social media as an effective tool to positively engage and educate Queenslanders.

During 2021–2022, we posted weekly road rule quizzes every Monday on our Facebook page, including questions about road rules for bicycle riding and sharing the road with vulnerable users.

The quizzes generated discussion, encouraging followers to question their knowledge and correct their understanding of the road rules.

National publications such as Channel 9 News often picked up the weekly posts, helping to boost reach of the posts further across Queensland.

Next steps

We will continue to publish road rule quizzes on our Facebook page every Monday, including questions specifically about bicycle riding and sharing the road with vulnerable road users approximately once every 3 months.

We will also regularly publish posts about bicycle rider safety on our StreetSmarts Facebook page.
